Bath time

I gave all the birds a bath tonight, All of them did not like it at first but after they were done, boy did they love to fly and preen.

Sunshine would perch in the sun, then all of a sudden fly to me right in front of my face as if he was saying "Peek a boo". I should really play that game with him, I think he would pick up quick.

Heck if I call him he finds me where ever I am. He is such a sweety :D

Silk on the other hand really wanted some scritches lol. That is him on the right posing for me, he is such a cuddly bird. Its a good think his tint is more yellow then Sunshine's they'd be hard to tell apart.

Arriving home to be greeted by theses awesome birds is the best.

Flocon's Storie

Silk, the yellowone, was picked up after Misty died because Dusty was having a hard time coping with the loss of his companion.

While I was at the breeders, I was certain that I wanted to bring Silk home, but I saw a lonely albino cockatiel that had no tail feather and looked pitifull.

When inquiring about him, the breeder told me that the other birds would constantly attack him and that because of his feather condition (tail) he could not sell him.

I was at a loss because my boyfriend really like silk and I also wanted to take flocon home with me.
I guess the breeder really wanted to get rid of him so he gave me a real special price for him.

I've been working on him for the past 6months now, at first he was so skiddish but now he steps up and loves to snuggle. He still has his moments but he is doing better.

His tail feathers have not grown yet but it looks like they are slowing trying to grow. In this picture you can see why I call him King Flocon, his crest looks like a huge crown :)
Needless to say I love him as well and will convert him to like human company, so far he only lets me handle him but that will change one day with perseverance.

A strange Night fright

Well sometime around 3:00am this morning Dusty started flapping his wings madly in his cage.

Of course mommy went to the rescue and no damage, just a startled bird waiting for mommy to console him.

I've tried to find what would cause the night fright but its only this morning when I woke up that I finally saw what happened.

Turns out that Dusty took a liking to perching on their cuddle bone. and somehow the cuddle bone fell , so tomorow off to the pet shop to purchase some flat perches. I think Dusty would love them to sleep on :)
I am just happy that he only needed some cuddle time and that he did not break any feathers.

Sunshine the Talker

I just love the way sunshine makes my mornings. When I uncover the cage in the morning, he instantly goes to the door and tweets at me "Pretty Bird" and "hello pretty bird" then proceeds to sing various songs he learned.

He is such a handsome boy. always sticking close to his mommy.

I always allow all my birds Play time in the evening for a good 3 hours minimum and my little prince just loves to sit on my shoulder and sing to me, give me kisses.

He even tries to flirt with the other birds when they visit me for some snuggle time. Even if they are all Males. I don't think he realises that they are male or he is just trying to show off.

Here are some pictures of my handsome Prince.

Rememberance - Misty

Misty came into our lives from a baby. At firt I was sure he was a female but turns out he was a male.

I already had Dusty for 6 months when I brought Misty home. He was pulled from his parents early as they were not taking care of him properly and was hand fed, however I knew right off the bat he was a special bird. He was always a curious bird and so affectionate. He lived to be 6 years old before he tragically passed away.

Where I live there is no actual vet for birds but they can do the basic and when I brough misty at a young age, they did some tests which were normal. There was no reason to believe it was something really bad and that it would eventually place itself. He had moments where he seemed more lethargic but he always got out of it with proper care. This bird actually started flying backwards instead of forward so I spent a lot of time teaching him to jump from finger to finger.

Dusty adored him and always watched out for him. They lived together for 6 years in the same cage.
In march of this year, Misty took a turn for the worse. I noticed right away that there was something when he started to vomit. Off to the vet it was the same day. They performed tests and all looked normal but gave me some meds to help with the vomiit and told me to keep him warm.

I had to bring him again the next day as he got even worse and refused to eat. furthermore if he did eat millet, he would poo them undigested. I knew something serious was happening. The vet game me more meds and some hand feeding formula. He seemed to get better but 2 days after that I noticed that he could no longer perch properly so off to the vet again.

This time I told them to perform X-ray's since all other tests seemed normal. When they got it back , his gastric sac was enlarged. Unfortunately before anything could be performed Misty passed at the vet's office that same day while the technicians were performing more tests.

I miss him terrribly. I spent a whole week medicating him and hand feeding him every 4 hours , even at night for a bit so that he had something in his stomach.

He was my special man, and would spend hours cuddling. In his last day's all he wanted to do is snuggle inside my collar and run his head on my neck. Its like he wanted to confort me and tell me that all would be okay. Writting this makes me all teary eyed.

Here are some pics of Misty from the moment he was a Baby to about 2 months before he passed.

Silk

Well Silk Decided today that he would fly. He still learning and Sunshine spooked him causing him to fly erratically and he flew into the wall.

I checked him over and he seems fine. I think its time to trim the wings again.

Too bad but for his own safety I will have to.

Here are some pics of him

Meet Scooter - 7 year old Pacific Parrotlet

This is Scooter. He is a pacific Parrotlet that is about 7 years old. He loves taking his bath and getting scratches.
He does however hate my cockatiels and even though he is very small compared to my cockatiels, he can hurt them and he thinks he is the king of our flock...
He is so adorable though and loves his mommy. He is jealous of anyone and I mean anyone comming near her. Boyfriend found that out the hard way.

Welcome

Hello

Let me start by saying this will be a blog all about my pet birds. I have a total of 5 and they are all sweeties.
