Last night Silk and Flocon had a night fright, I am not sure what caused it as the cage was covered and there was a night light , which I placed so that there would not be any shadows.
I am starting to think that perhaps Silk sleeps so soundly that he scares himself by leaning slowwwly on a toy.
After calming both Silk and Flocon down, I checked them both and silk was bleeding a little bit where his new blood feather grows, within a minute the bleeding stopped but I won't take a chance and take him to the vet tonight, it looks like the feather has a small puncture but I don't want to remove the whole blood feather without consulting with my vet.
I checked him again this morning and he cleaned himself pretty good with no bleeding, he was playing with his favorite toy and signing happily to me so that is good.
This is the 2nd night fright he had since I got him in March, if he has a few more episodes of that I may have to let him sleep in a smaller cage

Night Frights are scary. Sometimes my bird gets scared by the toys in his cage at night. Then I have to take them out.
ReplyDeleteI think I hate night frights more than my birds! That's why I have a baby (or I should say bird) monitor in my room! I hope Silk and Flocon sleep more soundly!
